That time had to come didnt it?... It didnt take me long before I integrated a very nice FlashChat, from www.TuFat.com (i had it sitting around on my sever, but never used it cause my server doesn't have PHP installed). Im not one to buy things usually, especially codes or scripts, but at just $5, i couldnt go wrong. FlashChat is now installed into Joomla (via phpBB3 - www.phpbb3.com ) so I can take advantage of it seemless integration with an auto logging in feature! It also is connected to the database so that if you click on a user you see in the chatroom, you can view their profile... and the FlashChat grabs the profile from Joomla - well in fact it gets it from the Bulletin Board (phpBB3 - www.phpbb.com ), but the point is that there is one central point for everything, and everything is nicely tied together!! |

WizzKidd has added a very popular php Bulletin Board called phpBB ( www.phpbb.com ) - and its the latest version - Version 3... in addition, I have also added a very popular and powerful php based image gallery ( www.coppermine-gallery.net ) which is very good also! ...and you guessed it, its the latest version too! The gallery has tons of features, but I cant even go into that just yet. Well, I noticed that each "item" (e.g the gallery and the bulletin boards) have their own membs/login system for handling logged in users etc, which would mean a user would firstly log onto www.mixologist.co.uk, then in order to see the gallery, they'd have to log into that as well - which sucks, and what makes it worse is that the user would have to log into the boards as well, if they wanted to use that too... that's just plain old crazy! |

Welcome to the new look for Mixologist.co.uk - this is just a test platform for the time being. At the moment I am just testing Joomla for the first time. I am running the latest version, which appears to be version 1.5. Joomla is running using PHP and sits on a linux operating system. So, if you havent realised, this is very foreign teritory to me as I am a native Windows operating system user and am familiar with ASP and ASP.NET, and have never used Joomla before until now, but can see its great potential. You may notice "modules" are here one day, and not here the next, but thats because im just trying everything out - pushing all the buttons and seeing what happens! So, keep your eyes peeled... Mixologist.co.uk will be returning... soon! |
